Congratulations to Denis Provencher, professor and head of the Department of French and Italian, on being named Acting Director of the UA's Institute for LGBT Studies for Spring 2018.
Provencher is a scholar of contemporary French and Francophone cultural studies, with an emphasis on language and sexuality, and queer migration and diaspora studies.
Provencher's 20117 book Queer Maghrebi French: Language, Temporalities, Transfiliations (Liverpool University Press) was awarded the Ruth Benedict Book Prize, Honorable Mention, for an outstanding monograph written from an anthropological perspective about an LGBT topic.
